Blind trust

blind trustThis morning I stood in front of my mirror and asked the question: reflection, reflection on the wall, who is the most beautiful in all the land? Then the mirror said to me: Can you please step aside? I ask you a question: «Do you believe what you see or do you trust blindly? Today we're taking a closer look at faith. I want to state one fact clearly: God is alive, He exists, whether you believe it or not! God is not dependent on your faith. He will not come to life if we call all people to believe. He won't be any less God if we don't want to know anything about him!

What is belief?

We live in two time zones: In other words, we live in a physically perceptible world, comparable to an ephemeral time zone. At the same time, we also live in an invisible world, in an eternal and heavenly time zone.

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

What do you see when you look in the mirror? See your body slowly crumbling. Do you see wrinkles, folds or hair lying in the sink? Do you see yourself as a sinful person with all wrongdoings and sins? Or do you see a face full of joy, hope and confidence?

When Jesus died on the cross for your sins, he died for the sins of all mankind. With the sacrifice of Jesus you were released from your punishment and in Jesus Christ you received a new life. They were born from above through the power of the Holy Spirit to live a full life in a new spiritual dimension.

Kolosser 3,1-4  “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you have died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

We dwell with Christ in his heavenly kingdom. The old me died and a new me came to life. We are now a new creature in Christ. What does it mean to be "a new creature in Christ?" You have a new life in Christ. You and Jesus are one. You will never be separated from Christ again. Your life is hidden with Christ in God. You are identified with Christ through and through. Your life is in it. He is your life. You are not only an earthly inhabitant here on earth, but also an inhabitant of heaven. Do you think so?

What should your eyes perceive?

Now that you have become a new creature, you need the spirit of wisdom:

Epheser 1,15-17  “Therefore, since I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you and to remember you in my prayers.”

What does Paul pray for? Different living conditions, healing, work? No! “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation to know him.” Why does God give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation? Since you were spiritually blind, God gives you new sight so that you can know God.

Eph 1,18  “May he give you the eyes of your heart to be enlightened, that you may know the hope to which you have been called by him, how rich the glory of his inheritance is for the saints.”

These new eyes let you see your wonderful hope and the glory of your inheritance to which you have been called.

Eph 1,19  “How exceedingly great is his power for us who believe through the operation of his mighty strength.”

You can see with your spiritual eyes that you can do everything through the one who makes you powerful, Jesus Christ!

Epheser 1,20-21  “With this power he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in heaven, above all rule and authority and dominion and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.”

Jesus was given all power and glory over all empires, power, power and rule. In Jesus' name you share in this power.

Epheser 1,22-23  “And he put all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.”

That is the essence of faith. If you can see this new reality of who you are in Christ, it changes your whole thinking. What you are experiencing and also experiencing now gives your current living conditions a new meaning, a new dimension. Jesus fills your life with all its fullness.

My personal example:
There are living conditions and people in my life that tear me down emotionally. Then I go to my favorite place, in silence and talk to my spiritual father and Jesus. I explain to him how empty I feel and how much I appreciate that he fills me with all of his being.

2. Korinther 4,16-18  “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary afflictions are preparing for us an eternal and immeasurable glory, because we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

You have life through Jesus Christ. He is your life. He is your Head, and you are a part of His spiritual body. Your afflictions today and the affairs of your present life are working together to create a weighty glory for all eternity. When you stand before the mirror again, don't look at your outward appearance, at what is seen, but at what is unseen, which lasts forever!
