Profession and calling

643 profession and callingIt was a beautiful day. At the Sea of Galilee, Jesus preached to the listening people. There were so many people that he asked for Simon Peter's boat to go out a little on the lake. That way people could hear Jesus better.

Simon was an experienced professional and very familiar with the amenities and pitfalls of the lake. When Jesus finished speaking, he asked Simon to cast his nets where the water was deep. Thanks to his professional experience, Simon knew that the fish would retreat into the depths of the lake at this time of day and that he would catch nothing. In addition, he had fished all night and caught nothing. But he obeyed the word of Jesus and in faith did what he said to him.

They threw out the nets and caught such a large amount of fish that the nets began to tear. Now they called their companions for help. Together they managed to distribute the fish among the boats. And none of the boats had to sink under the weight of the fish.

They were all deeply shocked by the miracle of this catch they had done together. Simon fell at Jesus' feet and said: Lord, get away from me! I am a sinful person »(Luke 5,8).
Jesus replied: “Do not be afraid! From now on you will catch people »(Luke 5,10). Jesus wants to encourage us to create with him what we cannot do on our own because we are imperfect.

If we believe Jesus' words and do what he tells us, we will find salvation from sin through him. But through his forgiveness and the gift of new life with him, we are called to act as his ambassadors. Jesus has called us to bring the good news of the kingdom of God everywhere. The salvation of people is announced when we believe in Jesus and his word.

It doesn't matter who we are because we are equipped with the talents and abilities to do Jesus' commission. As those who have been healed by Jesus, it is part of our calling to "catch" people.
Because Jesus is always with us, we answer his call to be his co-workers. In Jesus' love
