The Son of the Most High

incarnationIn the Bible, God's names describe his nature. "El Elyon" is a Hebrew name for God, meaning "the Most High" or "the Highest." This name expresses his essence and reveals his attributes, his exaltation, majesty, and incomparable greatness. In Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High draws very close to us, so that humanity could see, hear, and touch him: "He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will have no end." (Lk 1,32-33).

The birth of Jesus in Bethlehem is more than a touching story. It is a divine miracle. The Son of God was not conceived by human will, but by the Holy Spirit. In the Virgin Mary, something happens that transcends all human possibility. The eternal Word becomes flesh, God in human form. The Most High himself enters our fragile world, not in power and glory, but in humility and weakness. This fills us with wonder. What does it mean that the Lord of all lords, the Creator of the universe, is born as a child and lies in a manger? God does not seek distance, but closeness, to encounter us and be with us. Jesus is the greatest gift of the Most High, our Father, to us.

This miracle doesn't end in Bethlehem. Through Jesus' death on the cross and his resurrection, God gives us new life in the Holy Spirit. Thus another mystery is fulfilled: "To them God chose to make known among the Gentiles the riches of the glory of this mystery: Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Kol 1,27)The Most High takes up residence within us.

If we trust him, he transforms our thinking, our actions, and our entire lives. Even though our society often turns away from God, Jesus is in our families, in our communities, in our personal struggles and hopes. His presence is not a pious theory, but a living reality.

That is why Christmas, the birth or incarnation of Jesus Christ, is more than an annual festival. It is a remembrance of God's miracles and an invitation to live them daily. The Son of the Most High is above us, with us, and in us. This is the good news we can share with one another. You are not alone! The Most High dwells with you and in you. Jesus' light shines through you, and your life is renewed through him.

So only one thing remains for us: We worship you, Son of the Most High. We thank you, Jesus, you are the miracle, born of the Spirit, died for us, rose again in glory, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and present in our hearts.
