In the ghetto

“And it will be said, This land that was devastated has become like the Garden of Eden, and the desolate and desolate and torn down cities are fortified and inhabited.” - Ezekiel 36:35.

Time for a confession - I belong to the generation that first learned to appreciate the talent of Elvis Presley. Today, as I did then, I do not like all of his songs, but there is a song that has had a special effect on me and that has found a positive response over the decades. It is true today as it was when it was written. It was written in the sixties by Mac Davis and then recorded by many artists. It's called "In the Ghetto" and tells the story of a child born in a ghetto in the US, but it could have been in any other part of the world. It is about the survival of a neglected child, in a hostile environment. The child is killed as a young, violent man and at the same moment another child is born - in the ghetto. Davis first called it a "vicious circle," a title that actually fits better. The lifecycle of many who have been born into poverty and neglect is all too often ended by violence.

We have created a world of terrible hardship. Jesus came to end the ghetto and misery of the people. John 10: 10 says, "The thief comes only to steal, slaughter and corrupt. I have come to give them life and abundance. "The thieves steal from us - they take away the quality of life, deprive people of their property, including self-respect. Satan is known as the destroyer and he is responsible for the ghettos of this world. Jeremiah 4: 7 "A lion is coming up out of his thicket, and a destroyer of nations is breaking up. He moves from his place to make your land a desert, your cities are decaying, are without inhabitants. "The basis of Satan's devastation is the sins in all their apparitions.

The whole point, however, is that he did it with our consent. From the beginning we chose our own path as in 1. Moses 6:12 says: “And God saw the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way on earth. ”We continue on this path and create ghettos of sin in our lives. Romans 3:23 tells us, "for all have sinned and do not obtain the glory of God" we have distanced ourselves from the One who would show us a far better way (1. Corinthians 12:31).

The day will come when there will be no more ghettos. The violent death of young people comes to an end and the mothers' weeping will cease. Jesus Christ will come to save people from themselves. Revelation 21: 4 encourages us and says, "He will wipe away any tears from their eyes, and death will be no more, nor grief nor shouting nor pain will be more; for the first has passed away. "Jesus will make all things new, as we read in Revelation 21: 5," And the one who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he then speaks: "Write! Because these words are true and true. "The ghettos will be extinguished forever - no more vicious circle! May this day come quickly!

Prayer

Wonderful benevolent God, thank you for your plan of salvation, for saving us from ourselves. Help us Lord, that we have compassion for the needy. Your kingdom come. Amen.
